Colin Frizzell is an internationally published, bestselling Canadian author and screenwriter known for his compelling storytelling across young adult fiction and psychological thrillers. Born in 1971 and raised on a farm in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Frizzell developed a deep appreciation for narrative and character early on. His debut novel, Chill (2006), was published by Orca Book Publishers as part of their acclaimed Orca Soundings series. Praised by the School Library Journal as “perfect for struggling and reluctant readers,” Chill received additional accolades from Kliatt and CM Magazine. Frizzell’s second novel, Just J (2007), supported by a Toronto Arts Council grant, was recognized by the Ontario Library Association as a top ten choice for young readers and featured in the Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Best Books for Kids & Teens 2008 magazine. Expanding into screenwriting, Frizzell co-wrote the psychological thriller Lavender (2016), directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly and starring Abbie Cornish, Justin Long, and Dermot Mulroney. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and received praise for its haunting exploration of memory and trauma.

Frizzell also edited and contributed to Such Little Time: A Collection of Love Letters, a personal project featuring correspondence between his parents during their engagement. His short audio play, An Ongoing Process, was produced by the Festival Players of Prince Edward County. As a writer-in-residence with the “Now Hear This” program, he has mentored aspiring writers in classrooms across Canada. Currently residing in Toronto, Frizzell continues to craft narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
